Words from a small island

To misquote that great wordsmith John Donne,

“No man is an island,

entire of itself;

every man is a piece of the continent

everyone needs a piece of content”

…and that’s where I come in. Delivering content for websites, newsletters and print articles, for the Island and beyond. Content that might range from a weekly blog or piece of advertorial, to reviews and recipes. In fact, pretty much any written copy that helps readers and customers engage with a site, and maximises its search engine optimisation (SEO).

A better writer than me once said, “what’s easy to read is hard to write”, because it takes time, imagination, and attention to detail to deliver copy that’s accurate and entertaining. If you’re running your own business, or juggling a plethora of existing commitments, you’re unlikely to have any spare time to write interesting content, keep a regular blog, or update your presence on social media. That’s where I can help.

I bring my creative flair and love of language to any project, from 400-word corporate blogs to four-page magazine features. Whether you require me to closely follow a set brief, or generate ideas from scratch, I will deliver you carefully crafted copy within the budget and deadline that we agree on. In print, I have contributed regularly to Style of Wight magazine, and recently wrote a feature for COAST Magazine on a new ‘Grand Designs’ house built on the Isle of Wight. I have also photographed and written my own children’s craft book (available on Amazon Kindle as Easy Easter Crafts) and blog for a wide variety of corporate websites, from The Royal Hotel in Ventnor to Sudocrem.

My background in TV production means that if customers need more than just words, I can help with corporate videos, v-logs or photography. Recent filmwork include a glossy interior house tour for property developers in Bembridge, and a Kickstarter crowdfunding video for fashion designer Marianne Cheung.

Additionally, I can set up and/or manage social media platforms for businesses, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
